For over three years now Snacky Matz Healthy Vending has been dedicated to making the healthy choice an easy choice for all who live, work, shop, and play in Lehigh Valley region. We constantly send letters and emails, call schools, big companies, youth centers and even hospitals to allow us place our free healthy vending machines on their premises as a healthy alternative. Some are willing but others not so much!
Traditional Vending Machines
Still, parents concerned about what they should – or shouldn’t – feed their kids, often ask for a list of don’ts. And, most often, the nutritional offenders are convenience items: Those easy-to-grab fast food items and wrapped snacks that are loaded with refined carbs, added sugar and artificial food dyes, not to mention other questionable ingredients and add-ins that are best avoided. But how can you blame a kid wanting to munch on this “junk” if that’s the only vending option he or she is presented with? And even though most schools do pay attention to what is being sold at their cafeterias, the vending machines are still debatable.
GMO Skittles or M&Ms, Doritos! School traditional vending machine tendencies are contrary to healthy eating and undermine any nutrition education that children may learn in school or at home.
Healthy Vending Machines
Snacky Matz has been successful with many wonderful locations where kids come to play and learn, and it famously shuns refined sugars, gluten or GMO products! Our signature treats are a mix of nuts, nut butters and coconut oil, all natural fruit and no hydrogenated oil vegetable chips that have been a huge hit with the #eatclean group and look set to fly off our vending machine shelves as soon as they are restocked. Of course we customize our machines according to allergy or religious recommendations! We have plenty of nut free delicious and nutritious options for anyone allergic. We label our products for anyone that wants to check the ingredients before purchasing the products.
Most of us however want to know what to put in their kids lunch boxes. We want our kids to be healthy. But we also want them to actually eat and not trade with their classmates!
Provide snacks for your children that are both nutritious and considerable enough to relieve hunger until dinner time. Some foods you may have around the house that need very little preparation are: applesauce, popcorn (NON GMO), fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, graham crackers with sunflower butter, nuts (check with your school’s allergy guidelines), yogurt, cheese and crackers, dried fruit, celery with cream cheese.
